Port Royal Scott Lodge #591 History Through The Ages

A request was submitted to the Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Master of the Jurisdiction of Georgia, the Honorable Benjamin A. Barksdale 33°, on a letter dated April 25, 1999 to admit the following Lodge and Chapter to the Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge of Georgia (MWPHGLGA) and the Prince Hall Grand Chapter Order of the Eastern Stars (PHGCOES).

Widow Son Lodge No. 8, Ancient Free and Accepted Masons

Sweet Rose Chapter No. 124, Order of the Eastern Star

On June 9, 1999, the prayer of the Lodge and Chapter was answered in the affirmative. This event was of historic proportions as it marked the first time an entire Non-Prince Hall Affiliated Masonic Lodge and Chapter was ever healed into the MWPHGLGA and PHGCOES together.

After careful consideration and consultation, Grand Master Benjamin A. Barksdale 33° styled the said Lodge and Chapter Under Dispensation (UD) in the following manner:

Port Royal Scott Lodge, UD

Viola Hart-Felton Chapter, UD

On the 20th of June 2000, at the 131st Annual Grand Lodge Communication of the MWPHGLGA held in Macon, GA the Lodge received its Charter and numbered as Port Royal Scott Lodge No. 591.

Starting from our meager beginnings over 25 years ago, Port Royal Scott Lodge 591 has grown exponentially. The members of Port Royal Scott and the lodge itself encompasses varied members with far reaches. We are an active volunteer group in the City of Riverdale and Clayton County, as a whole. And we only get better as the time marches on. We use our non profit, Royal Port Lighthouse Club, to partner with other groups to help all over the state. We also provide initial funds to aid students with their dreams of college or trade school. We know that a good education is key to success in life. And under the leadership of great Brothers like these listed below and many great Brothers coming up through the ranks, Port Royal Scott’s vision for the future is boundless. These are the great leaders of the past that helped outline Port Royal Scott Lodge 591 future.
